Merry Christmas

It's Christmas week and a time to share with friends and family. My traditions include visiting Lakeside Park on Christmas Eve, going to Grandma's house to open up presents. Christmas Day I spend the time with my wife and daughter opening up presents in the morning and watching the Christmas Parade from Disney.

Snow Day

What was a snow day like when you were a kid? Back in my younger years like any kid I always looked forward to snow days. It was always a day to go outside and build a snow man or go to the park and take the sled down the hill. Snow days include some hot chocolate and trying to stay warm.

Now as a parent things change on snow days. You have the kids that are happy to be home but trying to find the proper child care is another problem

No matter what end of it you are on. Enjoy the snow day.

Christmas Lights

Let me start this by saying I in now way shape or form am ready for Christmas. The shopping, crowds and cold weather. But this weekend's weather is suppose to be fantastic for this time of year with temps in the 60's. So Sunday I am going to try and get in the Christmas spirit and put my lights out. It may seem early but I will be the one laughing at the neighbors at the end of the month that are doing it in the cold and snow!!!

P.S. I will be cutting lawn this weekend as well. How sad it that? Cutting lawn and putting up Xmas lights. I love it!!!

Showdown

Well the showdown is just about here. Monday night football with the Packers and the Vikings. So much hype has been made about this game as fans and through the media. Favre is taking on the Packers for the first time. But how big is it? To me the even bigger game is when Favre returns the Lambeau Field. It should be fun and hopefully the Packers come out on the good end. Coverage on K107.1 starts at 5pm Monday night.

Interesting Summer

As summer comes to a close this week I reflect on what a summer it has been around the area. The ecomonic crisis in our country continues and so much so we've felt the rath in the area. Mercury Marine and it's union had a very difficult decision on trying to come together to get a resolution. That situation has finally settled and now everyone can move forward.

In the weather department it has been very strange. A cooler than normal summer with cold temperatures in the evening. It wasn't until a few weeks ago the weather really turned good and continues.

In the sports department it seems like the Pack is back. We also had our annual summer of Brett Favre staying retired and then changing his mind and coming to play for the Vikings. The Brewers went from a playoff team to possible a losing season.

What a summer it has been. As fall comes upon us, the leaves will fall and the deep winter is coming soon.

Fondue Fest

It's become a fall tradition in Fond du Lac, Fondue Fest. Three years ago it started and has turned into an event that kicks off the fall season. Hundreds of people will gather in downtown Fond du Lac to find the Farmer's Markets, merchants, food and music. There are kids activities in the Fundu-zone.

I look forward to this event every year. I recently read in the paper that Fondue Fest was rated right behind Walleye Weekend as festivals people look forward to.

Enjoy the fall season in downtown Fondy!

Football Season

It's one of my favorite times of year. Football season getting underway. The Packers are now into their third preseason game tomorrow night against the Arizona Cardinals. Plus high school football gets underway tomorrow night as well. I will be out out broadcasting from North Fondy for the Touchdown Club and their annual tailgate party. Come out for burgers, hot dogs, brats and most important high school football. Good luck to all area teams. We are ready for another exciting season.

Welcome to August

The month of August is now here. July just flew by as always. Depending on where you are located the month of July went down in the top 2 or 3 coldest ever. Guess it must be global warming huh???

Hopefully the month of August will bring us warmer temperatures. Packer training camp started this weekend and the Back to School sales are in progress. The Winnebago County and State Fair's get underway this week.

We are one month away from the unofficial end to summer. Labor Day. Enjoy it while you can. Cooler days are coming soon!!

Random Thoughts

It's the lunch hour on Thurs. Just getting ready to get a winner with "On this Date in Taco History."

I am trying to get over a summer cold that has hit me this week. I had two days of vacation early in the week and they should have been sick days. Like everyone I hate being sick to begin with but a cold during the summer has to be the worst. It's warm outside and you are sitting around the house sneezing and blowing you nose.

Hopefully I will be better by the weekend. Any plans this weekend? I am going to try and get out to enjoy the summer weather and go camping.

Have a great weekend!

Favre a Traitor?

Well that seems to be the tone of a few local guys that are having fun with the 2009 version of the Brett Favre saga. Brett has announced as of today that is has set a deadline for July 30th the opening day of training camp to announce if he is coming back or not. Sound familiar Packer Fans? Holding another franchise hostage. He went from one of the most idolized players in Packers history and fell out of the graces of all that supported him for 16 years. Now a shirt has been made in Brett Favre's honor from a group of guys from Kewauskum. They've received a lot of publicity with sales coming from all over the world. Check them out at http://www.judasfavre.com/ I am getting my shirt soon!!!

Good Guy Finish's First

What a great finale to American Idol tonight. First the show was amazing with artist like Keith Urban, Rod Stewart, Kiss, Lionel Richie and Queen just to name a few. But the night belonged to Kris Allen. It's great to see a good guy finish's on top. Not that Adam is a bad guy by any means but Kris has been down to earth and worked hard to get to the top.

100 Million Votes. Amazing!! Can't wait for the next season of AI.

Vacation #1

Well I just got back from vacation in sunny Florida. I went down to the Keys for a week. Had a great time. The weather was in the mid 70's most of the time. Here is a picture of a boat ride that I took up to Miami. We toured the Atlantic Ocean and sailed to downtown Miami. What a huge city. Another vacation is coming up soon at the end of April, again back to Florida.

We are Marquette

Anybody that listens to my show and knows me understands how big of a college basketball fan I am. This time of year there is no football and spring training is a month or so away. So my attention is 100 percent on the college basketball scene. I am a season ticket holder for Marquette and love going down to the Bradley Center. Tonight Marquette beat their biggest rival Notre Dame 71-64 and I am pumped. Marquette is now 7-0 in the tough Big East. This is turning out to be a fun season. Hopefully MU can keep it up.

I am back

It's been a long time since I took the time to sit down and write a blog. But I am back!

It's now 2009 and my New Years resolution is to keep you up to date a little bit more on my blog. It's Saturday and I am just finishing up Saturday at the 70's.

What a cold week we had last week. You can officially say the "Dog days of winter" are here. Temperatures were about -20F with wind chills near -40F. I am already starting to think about my trip to Florida in late Feb. Actually I have a couple trips planned down there in the first part of the year.

What are you doing to keep warm?
